Loosing weight

A few months ago i was overweight, i was kind of annoyed with this but the shit didn't really hit the fan until we got some new scales. It was a fancy one you enter your length/sex and all that in and it gives you lots of info, including a BMI and some info on your weight. I got a picture of a fat little man. not good.

But what the hell? i hardly ever eat candy or other snack food so whats the deal here? Where is the excessive weight coming from? I knew it was actually 2 things:
1. i am lazy ass and rarely exercise other than letting the dog out twice a day and a long walk in the weekend.
2. i like my food, so much that i usually eat to much.

So steps where needed, i sold my car (my beautiful Chrysler Crossfire), bought a bike and started cycling to work and back every day. 2 months later i had lost 2 kilos, another month after that nothing had changed. I thought maybe id reached my ideal weight or BMI so went and checked the scales again. Still a fat little man frowning at me :/

So i was at a loss for a moment, i knew i wouldn't exercise more, to tired after work and also lazy, to hell with a rabbit food diet, i need my meat… but what then? Scoured the net for a bit and reached 2 conclusions:
1. drink more (water). This seems to help a lot of ppl and i knew i didn't drink much.
2. Atkins… this looked interesting. Can still eat meat but avoid carbs.

Hmm now i asked around and got some interesting reactions, mostly things like "are you an idiot that's really unhealthy" and "you know Atkins is just drinking whale blubber milkshakes and eating lard?". As usual such good advice is lost on me and i decided to do it my way.

I didn't try to eat more fat than usual or anything, i just avoided potatoes, rice and bread, kept a healthy diet of vegetables, big salads and meat or fish. For lunch i ate fish instead of sandwiches for breakfast i had a boiled or fried egg instead of crunchy. I also started to drink much more water, throughout the day. Always having a half bottle of water in the freezer at home (take out when frozen, fill up other half with water and hey presto: instant chilled water :) )

Now the results are interesting, 7 weeks later i have lost 7 kilos,  i feel very healthy, and full of energy, thought up lots of new recipes and best of all: no more fat little man frowning up at me from the damned scales! Since last week iv been slowing it down a little tho, having bread 2 days a week for lunch and had some lovely potato mash yesterday. I'm not going to revert to the amounts i used to eat tho, will keep an eye on the scales and keep my weight level :)
