Google search features

Well apart from my earlier rant on the scary parts of google (http://weblog.thomassmart.com/2008/09/google-friend-or-foe/) the search engine does have many fun features. :P

Did you know that from the search on www.google.com you can search for:
Weather amsterdam to get the weather in amsterdam
Time amsterdam to get the current time in amsterdam
5*10 to get 50, or any other calculation you want
define: programming to get the definition of programming
150 euros = ? pounds for currency conversion
100 C = ? F for temperature conversion
100kg = ? pounds for weight conversion
100cm = ? inch for measurement conversion
(etc)

and there is the spell checker feature: search for panut and you get a (slightly condescending)
Did you mean: peanut

also u can use - to filter out results like this:
peanut -wiki -youtube this will return all results that are not on a wiki site or youtube site

you can use * as a wildcard

j.r.r. tolkien wrote *
or
lord of the rings by *
or
space the final *
ok getting a little too geeky now…

ok, so now we get to the more interesting stuff…

Finding mp3s:
-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "techno"

Finding fonts
-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(ttf|otf)

ofcourse many variations of the above are possible :)

And a few different ways of finding webcams.
Notes: some of these are controllable
you may have to install browser plugin software some of the cams, the ones i found where all safe and spyware free

intitle:”EvoCam” inurl:”webcam.html”
intitle:start inurl:cgistart
intitle:liveapplet inurl:LvAppl
inurl:”MultiCameraFrame?Mode=Motion”
intitle:”Live View / - AXIS 210?
intitle:snc-rz30 inurl:home/
intitle:”i-Catcher Console - Web Monitor”

Have fun now :)
